Early Life
Dr. KH. Idham Chalid, affectionately known as Pak Idham, was born on 27 August 1922 in Setui, near Kotabaru District in the southeastern region of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. He was the eldest of five children born to H. Muhammad Chalid, a respected penghulu (Islamic religious official) from Amuntai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, approximately 200 kilometers from Banjarmasin. From an early age, Idham Chalid displayed exceptional intelligence, courage, and leadership qualities that would later distinguish him as one of Indonesia's most influential Muslim scholars and statesmen.
